We are well aware of the current downtime on the server. It will be down for some time and the team of NFG asks you politely to bare with us. We've had issues here and there and as you know Arma amps those little things up to 11.. Our dearest and main Head Mother Fucker In Charge (HMFIC) Caboose-1 has been hard at work searching through millions of lines of codes.. We at NFG appreciate his truly hard ass work that he puts into everything. We have no known time as to when this issue will be resolved. Until then the server will be offline! Go hang out with your families! Peace out! -NFG Team-
as a NFG member, i am glad you took it down till it is ready for a beta test. there were to many squeakers on last night bitching about every little thing that didnt work. i know caboose is working his butt off and cant wait to see it up and running again..
From the side of the TFB we wait patiently, we know that the Arma and Exile have a will of their own, good luck to discover the problem. Cheers.
I got the missions fixed but for some reason respawn puts everybody at the corner of the map. I have tried several things, taking all mods off, reinstalling exile server, and removing scripts. I am going to do a full re-install tomorrow and start from scratch. Sorry for the downtime but these things happen. After I get it back up and running I will put a message out on the forums. Should be a few days.
https://forums.bohemia.net/forums/topic/143255-corner-of-map-spawn/ not sure if this is helpful or not?
He's trying to implement a new system, and if he goes back to a backup everything will be reverted and no progress will be made and time will be wasted.
What is the new system? Is this the paycheck update? Im all for growing and adding new things to the server! Maybe add some Sci-fi/starwar mods
LucasArts is pretty high strung about killing servers with the Star Wars mod. Plus I imagine the scenario of the server as being post-war, dystopian and slightly low-tech.
I guess you break core tenets of good computer science and it comes with a cost. Run a local dev server for testing and expansion and push to production server when the kinks are worked out. A neat quote I've always remembered from college, esp. here in the Houston area where the company that wrote the core code that launched the space shuttle was based, 86% of their time producing was spent writing code to manage the code that actually launched the shuttle. Don't forget it's NOT time wasted to write, in whatever is convenient, tools to manage your versioning, backups, moves, copies, creates, etc. We wait... good luck!
Lemme translate: He's saying 'best practices says' build up a Development (Test) server, identical to the main gaming server (Production server). Do all the new installs, testing, upgrading, etc.. on this DevTest server. If it explodes, your Prod server is untouched. You simply recreate the test server with a backup or whatever and try again. Once you learn how to reinvent the wheel on the DevTest server, you do what you did there on the Prod server or copy the DevTest to the Prod server. Having said all that, that'll totally work 'next time'. I'm new here, but I believe in you Caboose. and if You Ain't Cav.... You Ain't Shit <<<< former I Trp 3rd Sqdn 2 ACR
